I have recently been contacted by someone who is interested in the above named William DYER who lived in Weston-super-Mare and was Land Agent to the Smyth-Pigott estate. Is this the same family as yours?
Is the family below the one you are talking about, I have William Henry Davies Super tramp in my tree and his grandmother Lidia Adams Keen, and strangely enough I also have the surnames George and Athay, surely no a coincident.
Robert, Newport Wales

I'm Brian Milkins from Australia and a direct descendant of the Milkins family that lived in Rowberrow.
One of these Jacob Milkins b. 1802 Rowberrow, married an Elizabeth Athay b. Shipham 1804 in St Leonard's Shipham.
Another Milkins, also named Jacob b. 1770 Rowberrow married an Elizabeth Wookey b. 1771. I assume they were married in either in St Michael and All Angels, Rowberrow or St Leonard's, Shipham as they resided for a period at The Star Hamlet (near Shipham).
So we may possibly be distant relatives.
My great grandfather George Carter was a miner who moved to Wales and then to the US. I am always looking for new information on my family, so hoping there is a connection here.
I am very interested in the history of the Athay family, as my great grandmother Kate Athay married George Carter and emigrated to the US with my grandmother in 1904. I have George's lantern, as he was a miner as well.
Best regards, Tricia
Hi Sandi. You should be able to find the information you want on FreeReg which is, as its name suggests, free to use. But to help you on your way:
According to the 1851 Census William PARKER was born c1783 in Bleadon. According to FreeReg he was baptised in Bleadon on 6 February 1783 to parents Sam and Betty. According to the same source Samuel PARKER married Elizabeth JENNINGS (a Widow) in Bleadon on 22 May 1768.
I assume that Samuel and Elizabeth had children before William was born (and perhaps afterwards) but I haven't searched for them. FreeReg should help you with that and, hopefully, the birth/baptism of Samuel as well. Let us know how you get on in your quest and, if you need more help, don't hesitate to ask.
This is the family I am researching. Any names of William's parents? Saw somewhere father's name Samuel.
According to FreeReg William PARKER (of Bleadon) married Mary TRIPP (of Shipham) in Shipham on 28 December 1808.
Joseph PARKER was baptised in Bleadon on 27 September 1817.
