The Titanic - LOUCH

I've just seen that you have a guest speaker in 2016 who is going to talk about this subject.

It reminds me of something that my mother told me about recently during a long discussion about the Langford Road area. She mentioned that the Minister at the Methodist Mission in Langford Road was called "Louchy" (a term of affection I think) and that his parents had died on the Titanic. I have since checked the passenger list and found the following individuals in Second Class:

Mr Charles LOUCH (Saddler)

Mrs Alice Adelaide LOUCH.

The description of the recovered body (apologies if this is too macabre for some) reads as follows (Entry 121):

"Male. Estimated age 48. Beard and moustache, black.

Clothing - Fawn Waterproof; grey mixed suit; pyjamas underneath; money belt.

Effects - One knife; two memo books; fountain pen; purse and ?; London City & Midland Bank, ? 140, pocket book; ?7 10s 4 1/2d

Second Class

Name - Chas. Louch, Weston-super-Mare".

In 1911 the couple were living in Clevedon Road with their 5 sons and only daughter.
