Help with a death Certificate
published by David Hockey on Tue, 12/07/2022 - 22:11

I am trying to make sense of the attached death certificate for John Hockey in respect of his cause of death. It appears that he lived for 3 months after an event, but I am unable to make out what it was. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I think it reads - Uncertain  and then Icterus - which is a form of jaundice.  Under that is olive green perhaps that described the colour of his skin?

Hi David.

Very interested in your post as I have a long line of HOCKEY ancestors from Somerset. My most recent HOCKEY ancestor was Mary Mari HOCKEY who married William ERASMUS in Llanhilleth, Monmouthshire in 1874. They were my Great Grandparents.

I can trace my HOCKEY line back to Roger HOCKEY who married Alice DAMPYER in Yeovilton in 1606. Happy to provide more details.

What is your connection to the John HOCKEY in the death certificate and what else do you know about him? I don't have him in my tree.

I have taken a DNA test with Ancestry and am also on Gedmatch. I have large numbers of DNA matches with people who have HOCKEY ancestors. I have managed to verify my relationship to many of them, but there are many more who are still a mystery.
