My main connection with Weston is through the interesting RITCHIE and PETTIE sisters on my mother's side. On my father's side, I also have a connection with the Society's area through my grandfather Bertram Edward BURNHAM (1901-1982). I can recall him working as janitor at Sidcot School, and retiring to Horsecastle, Yatton. By that time he had remarried (he was a widower), to Winifred (Winnie) FOORD. His first wife (my grandmother) was Daisy Elizabeth BATEMAN.
His grandfather, Thomas Burnham, had moved from Chalfont St Peter in Buckinghamshire to become licensee at the Flower Pot Inn in Kingswood, east of Bristol, which is why my family is from that area. His uncle, another Thomas, was a notable of that area, holding the position of Chairman of Kingswood Urban District Council for 21 years.
