Cremation Records
published by JulieAPayne on Mon, 03/01/2022 - 13:58

Does anybody know if there are any cremation records for Milton Road Cemetery. I have been unable to find the resting place of my great grandmother who died at the end of 1956. I know Ebdon Road didn't open until 1966, but I've read that the practice was common from 1950's onwards.

It is possible that a Newspaper announcement might give details of where the funeral or cremation was to take place.  What was the name of your g grandmother?  Arnos Vale Cemetery and Crematorium in Bristol might have been used for North Somerset residents.  I believe that members of the HASE family were cremated there in 1964.  There is a Remembrance Book for Cremations at Edbon Road but  as it only contains information put in by relatives it is not complete and there is a Garden of Rest in Milton Road Cemetery where ashes might be buried.  Have you searched our transcriptions?
