My 2x Great Grandfather William Mitchell was born in Bleadon in 1827 and was a fisherman, I have found he was the Master of a vessel called Lively in 1871, I would be interested to know if he was a local fisherman where he would have sailed from and what would he have been fishing for at this time or any history of the fishing community at this time. Also how can I find out if he and other family members when they died were buried in Bleadon churchyard. Any info would be great.

The accompanying photo has been kept by my family for over 100 years. I have ancestors Fry and Quire who lived in East Brent and Burnham on Sea about the time the photo was taken, 1890. I suspect the woman in the photo was a member of one of these families.
The photographer was
If anyone can help identify the person concerned it would be much appreciated.
I hope some one can advise me, because my Great Grandfather was born before births were registered. I have been searching Church records.
I have gone onto Parish Records for England and Wales 1813 through 1906.
I have found an entry for Eugene opposite name there is a name father John Sheehy, with quite a bit of infomation of Limmerick underneath. It's got 3 of 12 matches. I am not sure if I have the right one or how I can look at the other matches.
My grandparents lived at 9a Eastfield Park between 1956 and 1976, and I have very fond memories of spending the first 17 summers of my life there. My grandfather purchased the whole property and had it converted into flats; he and my grandmother lived in the upstairs flat.
A few years ago I did a bit of research into 9 Eastield Park's former owners and, via the various censuses available, discovered that it was owned by a Mrs Isabella Hay Murray, widow of a former RN captain.
I'd love to find out more about 9 Eastfield Park - and Eastfield Park in general, if anyone knows anything.
I am trying to trace my RAVENHILL family line. My great, great grandfather was Henry Ravenhill (Jnr). According to his DC, he was born c1816. The 1841 states that he was ‘born in same County’ {ie City of Westminster}, while the 1851 states that he was born in “Somersit (sic) Bathâ€. Henry (Jnr) was a tailor and married Jane BUTTERFIELD from Ossett on 11th March 1845 at St George, Bloomsbury. They had three children, Sarah Elizabeth (b Sept¼ 1846), Amelia (b Sept¼ 1849) and my great grandmother Janet Eleanor, born 10 Oct 1854, all registered in Bloomsbury. On the BC of Janet Eleanor, Henry (Jnr) is stated as being ‘deceased’, as he died on 30 July 1854, of certified Phthsis (TB) at 15 Little Russell Street, Bloomsbury. On his MC, his father is also called Henry Ravenhill (Snr), a servant. I’ve not been able to find any record of his death after 11th March 1845, or even find him in the 1841 census, so wonder whether he was deceased before his son’s wedding. Ravenhill isn’t a very common name (there are only 236 recorded in the 1841 census), but I am hoping that someone may have more details than I’ve been able to find so far. I’ve tried a variety of different surname spellings, as the entry for Henry (Jnr) in the 1851 census is Ravenhall.
I’ve had searches made of the local Bath newspapers and some local Bath parish records, but without success.
So did Henry (Jnr) come from Bath, when did Henry (Snr) die, who were their ancestors? Any information to help me solve these problems would be much appreciated, as all attempts so far by a vatiety of people have drawn a blank. Thank you..
I am trying to trace the ancestry and of a Thomas Rogers from Backwell born circa 1837, father Lancelot. I have found a Lancelot Rogers on the 1841 Census in Backwell whose age is shown as 56 years and from Somerset. The next occurrence I am able to find is of a Lancelot Rogers who died at the Bedminster Union Workhouse in 1863 and was buried at St Andrews Church, Backwell, on 23 March 1863 age 86yrs. (WSMFHS transcript) which would give his birth circa 1777 and not 1785 as calculated from the 1841 Census. I cannot find Lancelot in the 1851 & 1861 Census returns. Baptism Transcripts show the baptisms of 4 children - Mary, Martha, John & James - to a Lancelot & Ann Rogers at Backwell. I am completely confused as I also have from the transcripts my Thomas Rogers marrying Louisa Lock at St Andrews, Backwell on 4 April 1858 whose father is a Lancelot Rogers. Thomas Rogers was born in Backwell according to the 1861 census but is some 16 years older than Lancelot & Ann's youngest child. Is it just a coincidence that my Thomas Rogers from Backwell has a father called Lancelot Rogers too and the family I have found from the transcripts is not the same as my Thomas Rogers? Just when you get a good name to trace they seem to disappear!
