A Disappearing Square
published by on Thu, 30/08/2012 - 17:09

Hello there,

Is anyone able to tell me where St Stephen's Square was in Weston-super-Mare? In the census return, Alma Street and Alma Terrace are also mentioned.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as this has been bugging me for nearly a week.

many thanks,

Kirsty Knight

Old Photograph of Weston-super-Mare?
published by on Tue, 21/08/2012 - 18:40

Is this Weston-super-Mare in Somerset?

Hi there,

I know I'm pushing my luck, but I was wondering if someone might recognise where this photograph was taken. I have reason to believe that is was taken in Weston-super-Mare, perhaps close to a beach (based on the fact that the young girl is holding a shovel and pail).

If there's a chance that someone might be able to help me I would be extremely grateful. I don't know that area myself, other than it was where my great-grandfather, Peter Louis Venn, and his second wife, Minne Elizabeth Venn (née Smith) retired. He lived there from 1925 to 1932, while she lived there much longer.

Thank you so much.

THREDWILL or KEEDWELL?
published by daveerasmus on Tue, 21/08/2012 - 10:12

Good morning all.

One of the entries in the Backwell Burial Transcripts is Mary THREDWILL on 2 March 1827, abode Bourton. I'm pretty sure the surname is actually KEEDWELL. Can someone check for me, please?

Weston Worthies
published by on Mon, 20/08/2012 - 10:04

Hi,

I was interested in the 'More "Weston Worthies"' article by Pat Hase in the June 2012 Journal and made a visit to the Weston Museum to see them but unfortunately the paintings are not on show at the moment. Does anyone have a list of all of the sitters in the series?

Many thanks

published by on Thu, 16/08/2012 - 17:18

Hello all

There in the family a Joseph Prosper GUIVIER , who died at Weston-super-Mare November 26, 1915 and his wife , Alice Maud CAMPION , who died at Weston-super-Mare October 26, 1915

Could I get a copy of their death certificates ?

Thanks in advance
