My ancestor Elijah Puddy married Mary Sharm on 23 July 1808 at Burnham-on-Sea. I can find no record of the birth or baptism of Mary Sharm anywhere. Can anyone help.
Although I have Elijah PUDDY attached to my husband's tree I've never found where Mary SHARM came from. A Richard SHARM was married in 1804 in Woolavington - not that far away, but I can't see where he came from either!
Have you found out how Elijah PUDDY, baker of Somerton, was involved in smuggling in 1820? The Somerset Archives has a document which states that he was released from Ilchester Gaol provided that he signed a bond for £50.00 to the effect that he would not get involved in smuggling again.
