Private Schools in Weston published by Pat Hase on Sat, 06/08/2022 - 11:36
As the document I added to the Newsletter appears to have disappeared I am posting it again here with a request for further information about these schools, their staff and pupils.
The document is a provisional list of Private Schools with some dates, references and names of Principals which is incomplete and may contain errors. If you have any information which could be added please let me know.
I have just noticed that Sir Arthur Eddington, the famous Scientist, Astronomer and Mathematician who lived in Walliscote Road - there is a bronze plaque on his house - was educated at Brynmelyn.

Lovely photograph, thank you. The names are interesting. However, I think that Mrs DAVIES was Mrs Dorothy Violet Maud DAVIES who was Miss Enid M D MITCHELL's eldest sister, not her mother. On the 1939 Register they are living in Uphill with another sister, Jessie MITCHELL. Their grandfather, Edwin Buller MITCHELL was the founder of "Mitchell Diadem Flour Co Ltd" in Bristol.
Comment 16/8/22. I was intrigued to see the name ‘Rosamund Waite’ listed here (my older sister, who would have been about 6 in 1956). I told her and she says she has no memory or knowledge of a Wyncroft school at all, so it’s a mystery. We did both attend Kendale private school in about 1958. Best wishes Monica Collier (neé Waite).
Postscript 22/8/22. While doubt remains about whether Rosamund and Ann attended Wyncroft school together in 1956, it turns out that we did all share the same music teacher (Miss M A Smith in Moorland Road) - and that Ros and Ann, together with a Julia Robinson, won a piano trio competition together at Highbridge Music Festival in May 1963. Lovely to revive old memories. Monica.
