Harriet Jarvis burial
published by Les Martels - 6 years 7 months 0 day ago.

Hi Phil,

Thank you so much for all the trouble you have gone to in search of this elusive information.  It seems you have pulled out all the stops and still found nothing.

I have had an Ancestry sub for many many years and still finding stuff on interest but not this query but I will try the suggestion given by the Somerset Archivist as I may have missed it.  If no joy, then I will definitely try the website for Brent Knoll.  I have traced Harriet's family back a few generations but her burial date was the only thing I did not have.  I rather think it could be that the register is not out in the general domain yet so the website might be the answer.

Thanks again for all your help and if I can help you in anyway, I am more than happy to do so.

Have a happy Christmas and a healthy 2019.

Best wishes,

Elizabeth

Hi Again Elizabeth, I've hit brick wall after brick wall trying to do this look up as Harriet doesn't seem to want her burial found. I've even looked in the old Weston newspapers in the hope that her death notice may have been in one but no such luck. I've searched all the contiguous parishes to East Brent (with the exception of Chapel Allerton which I cant get hold of) but had no luck with this eather. The Somerset Archivist has given me something that may well be of help to you if you have access to Ancestry - when you are on the main search page go down to "All in card catalogue" & click on this & when you get to the next page do as follows - in the Title Box type Somerset then in the Keyword Box type Trust then click on search & this will give you access to images of Somerset parish registers that have been copied from the Heritage Centre so you can look at images of the actual records at your leisure & if you don't have access to Ancestry its worth taking out a years subscription just to get all you can from these records as you could get back a lot further using them. Another thing you could do is try contacting Brent Knoll parish church as the Archivist told me that she thinks they may still hold their own records as they have not been deposited at the Somerset Heritage Centre as yet this is the web site for that church http://www.theparishofthreesaints.org.uk/contact-us. If none of the above works I honestly don't know what to suggest as I've done all that I can think of. All the very best & wishing you a very happy Christmas Phil

You are right the correct date for Edwin Jarvis Marriage at Lympsham is the 28th April 1887.

Our transcripts have been updated accordingly.

Curry family from Banwell

Paul,

My wife was a Curry before she married me! Her family tree has the information you are after. It goes back to Edward Curry Circa 1710.  I live in Worle near Weston Super Mare about 4 miles from Banwell. Are you local?

According to the copy of the marriage register at Ancestry the date for the marriage of Edwin Jarvis and Martha Champion was 28th April 1887 at St Christopher's Church, Lympsham, not the 18th April.  Could you please check this with  your records.

East Brent Burial Register 1813-1914

I see that two of them have the surname BOLEY so I'm not surprised that you are interested, but I'm not sure of the reasoning for these entries.  One of the provisos in the 1880 Ammendment act was a change in the handling of the Coroner's Certificate and I wondered whether these entries were subject of an Inquest or Post Mortem. The death certficate should show this.

Perhaps one of our members who knows more about East Bent than I can answer this?  If you haven't already done so take a look at the East Brent and Rooksbridge People Web Site
