Kate GILL and Emily HACKER
published by Pat Hase - 7 years 3 months 21 days ago.

Thank you Dave for clarifying the situation - it seems that we should have been looking for the death of a Kate POPLE.  Just to set the record straight, as far as I can see, Kate POPLE was not buried in Milton Road Cemetery.

I have these people in my tree. They are quite distantly related. My research has therefore been somewhat superficial and probably needs to be verified. But I believe it to be correct.

Emily Jane HACKER was baptised in Wrington on 12 October 1862. Her father was Sylvester HACKER. She married William PAYNE in 1884 but he died a year later. She then married George GILL in 1890. Both were widows. She gave her name as Emily Jane PAYNE and her father's name was recorded as Sylvester PAYNE. Emily died on 6 June 1946.

Emily and George GILL'S daughter Kate GILL was born in 1898. I believe she married Herbert W POPLE in 1920 and died in Weston in 1971.

Thanks Graham, my mistake - it was her husband, Norman GILL, who died on the 28th April 1955, my apologies.

ELIZA COOK & William Oaten

Eliza Cook was listed as a single woman on the 'Neptune' in 1853. Any Descendants of the family of William Oaten & Jane Oaten nee Jane How/Howe. May have information as Jane Oaten contacted her brother in Norwood, South Australia, in 1898 per a public notice in a newspaper as the family had not heard from him for 30 years. I would be grateful for any information or 'old' stories that have been handed down.
