MEADOWS family published by daveerasmus - 7 years 3 months 25 days ago. | | Hi Julie. It is not clear if you are researching the ancestry of your MEADOWS family or their more recent horticultural exploits. If the former, then it would be helpful if you could put some dates (of birth, marriage, death - approximate if necessary) to your father and grandfather, please. If the latter then it might be worth contacting http://www.wsmhorticultural.org.uk who were offering the George Meadows Cup as one of their trophies in 2015 (and probably later).

Johyn BIGGIN and Ann REDMAN published by - 7 years 3 months 27 days ago. | | For the information of Judithb who is researching the Biggin family of Pylle. and who requested information on Ann REDMAN. I have done some further research and I cannot find ANY CONNECTION between John and Ann BIGGIN of Wedmore and the BIGGIN family of Pylle. John Biggin who married Ann REDMAN and their children lived and died in Wedmore. After the death John and Ann BIGGIN their only son also named John BIGGIN lived until his death in 1885 at Cocklake, Wedmore. It seems he remained a single man who had a common law wife named Eliza TINCKNEL. They had two sons: John TINCKNELL born abt 1862 and William BIGGIN TINCKNELL Born abt; 1864. As previously mentioned, after the death of his wife Ann nee REDMAN he remarried and infact married Mary BILBIE a spinster born at Cheddar abt 1803. They had five children | |
Ann Redman published by - 7 years 3 months 29 days ago. | | Ann REDMAN was bapt; 17th May 1797 at St Marys Church, Wedmore. She was a daughter of William REDMAN (1759 - 1839) and his wife Maria CHAPMAN (1779 - 1831). She was married 6th April 1826 at St Marys Church, Wedmore to John BIGGIN. born abt 1801 died abt; 30th March 1860 a farmer from Cocklake. The marriage was witnessed by Mary REDMAN and Stephen POPHAM. The Couple had one son; John BIGGIN ( 1827 - 1885). Ann Biggin nee REDMAN died abt; 24th January 1832. After her death her widowed husband was remarried on 15th April 1834 to Mary BILBIE and it appears the couple had a further four children. The brothers and sisters of Ann REDMAN were: (1) William REDMAN Bapt; 3rd June 1793 at the age of 18 mths. died abt 27th December 1855. (2). Mary REDMAN Bapt; 3rd December 1794 died abt 1876. (3) Ann REDMAN as previously mentioned. (4) Hannah REDMAN.Bapt 17th March 1800 died abt 1st March 1883. (5). Benjamin REDMAN. Bapt; 3rd March 1802 died abt; 19th February 1877. (6) Sarah REDMAN. Bapt; 25th August 1804 Died abt 1851. (7) Charles REDMAN. Bapt 15th February 1806 Died abt; 19th March 1866.(8). Elizabeth REDMAN Bapt 25th October 1809 Died 1899 Iowa, USA. I am a direct ancestor of the family. I can trace these ancestors to Johannes REDMAN son of John REDMAN who married Elianor WARMAN in 1678. It seems the family originally came from the parish of Priddy, Somerset. They were Farmers in the Wedmore area for generations. If I can help further please contact me. Cheers Arthur REDMAN
