CommentsRichard STEPHENS - Clevedon Cars published by Pat Hase - 8 years 14 days ago. | | I hope that one of our Clevedon members will be able to do this for you. I expect you have seen this website - I have to admit knowing nothing about this early car manufacturer but in looking for information about R J DRAPER for another query on this forum I came across an article about Richard STEPHENS in a booklet published by Clevedon Civic Society called "Clevedon Past". it includes reference to an article in the Autocar of 1899 and also lists all of Richard Stephen's Patents.

Thank you published by - 8 years 16 days ago. | | We have just ordered a copy of the death certificate (expected delivery after end of this month apparently!)
We're not sure if the certificate will indicate anything about an inquest This afternoon we found address for coroners office in Flax Bourton so will write to them and ask what we can find out...
Thank you | |
Florrie Perry published by Les Martels - 8 years 16 days ago. | | This is quite a difficult one as nothing seems to be clear.
I found an Ernest W Perry in the 1939 Register living at 119 Colwick Road, Nottingham, single and living with other non related people. He gives his date of birth as 25.2.1916 and the birth index has an Ernest W Perry registered 2nd quarter 1915 with mother's maiden name of Corah. Looking at other births for a Perry/Corah parentage, there are 11 males and one female registered in Mansfield. There is a family with Horace born 1895 who married a Florence Corah in Mansfield in 1913 and he had a brother Albert born c 1893. Could this be Ernest's father or is it another family altogether.
I could find no 1939 entry for Richard or Edward Perry in the Nottingham area either.
Perhaps there was a 2nd marriage for Ernest and Florrie's mother which has made it all impossible to sort out.
Best of luck with it.

Florrie Perry published by - 8 years 16 days ago. | | Dear Pat and the many other people who helped out.
I cannot thank you all enough for finding This. Changing a name would explain everything. Bless you all, you have made my day. One last request, do you know where Florrie is laid to rest please?
Thank you very much xx | |
Miss Florrie PERRY published by Pat Hase - 8 years 17 days ago. | | While we were in the Library this afternoon several volunteers looked through the Street Directories and Electoral Rolls for your relative. They did find a death of a Florence PERRY registered in the Weston-super-Mare District in the 2nd quarter of 1994 with her date of birth given as 15th September 1921. A Florence PERRY born 15th September 1921 is described on the 1939 Register as "incapacitated" and living in a Home for People with Learning Difficulties in Aston Hall, Aston on Trent. This does seem to fit with what you have been told about her.
The address you gave for her is a block of flats in Weston but we couldn't find any mention of her amongst the electoral roll but perhaps she was never registered.
We found a birth of Florence E PERRY registered in the 4th quarter of 1921 in Nottingham with a mother's maiden name of SIMONS. We haven't yet found a marriage of a PERRY with a SIMONS. Florence appears to have had two brothers - Richard born in 1918 and Edward born in 1920. but I wonder whether either of them decided to change his name to Ernest? A lot more queries to solve!!

Debra Kim WIGHTMAN published by Pat Hase - 8 years 17 days ago. | | Unfortunately I didn't see this until after we had left the library this afternoon but there are copies of local newspapers available there to search on film. I see her death was registered in the 2nd qrt of 1985 - Do you have a copy of the death certificate? - presumably there was an inquest and that will be reported in the local press. Perhaps next Saturday someone will have the time to take a look for you.
