I do have a list of Weston Mayors and the only female Mayor during that time period was Councillor Mrs Mary Joyce GREY in 1954-1955.

Hi, did anyone ever find a list of Mayors, as I would also be interested in this. I am particularly interested to know what is happening in this picture which was taken between 1948 and 1962 (NFS Nation Fire Service). It looks like a lady mayor presenting an award. These are firemen. NFS17 is "Bristol " area. My gramps is in the pic so we know it is Weston.

Thomas LARKHAM
published by daveerasmus - 8 years 8 months 9 days ago.

At the time of the 1841 census Thomas LARKHAM (35) was living in Waterloo Court, St Augustine the Less, Bristol with Elenor LARKHAM (30), Eliza THOMAS (14) and Maria THOMAS (13). I have looked at the Census image on Ancestry and all 4 of them are recorded as having been born “in County” i.e. in Gloucestershire. For some reason the transcription on FamilySearch shows them all as having been born in Somerset, but I have no idea why.

At the time of the 1851 census Thomas LARKENN (47) was living in Wilkes Garden, St Augustine the Less, Bristol with Ellen LARKENN, Eliza COVEY (Daughter 25 – married), Robert LARKENN (Son 14), Sarah BALE? (niece) and Eliza COVEY (Grandaughter 6 months). They are all recorded as having been born in Bristol.

According to the Gloucestershire Prison Records on Ancestry a Thomas LARKHAM aged 20 of St Augustines was released from prison (having been acquitted) on 5 April 1825. He had been charged (jointly with George COLE aged 18 of St Augustines) “with having feloniously stolen taken and carried away one linen pinafore the property of Charles Vaughan Esq." The record includes this description of him:

“Dark brown hair dark grey eyes brown complexion long face wide mouth long nose several moles on his right arm scars on the back of left hand two small moles left side his neck Blacksmith Height 5  5 1/4.”

I don’t know if this is your Thomas LARKHAM but I hope the above helps.
