CommentsCOP LIPPETT CHEDDAR SOMERSET published by - 8 years 8 months 0 day ago. | | Hello Karen
Having looked at the 1871 census for Cop Lippett, I see that either side of this location are the list of residents in The Lynch, Bradley Cross and The Batch, Draycott.
Using the modern digital map system for Somerset[ ie Know Your Place], link
http://maps.bristol.gov.uk/kyp/?edition=banes
Locate Lippiatt and Bradley Cross and somewhere between could be Cop Lippett. The new maps show a modern map over a previous Ordnance Survey map.
Hope this helps

Gallop family published by - 8 years 8 months 1 day ago. | | I have RICHARD GALLOP & RACHEL HUGHES in my tree and I have a note of their son THOMAS but have not linked him to ELIZABETH BADMAN (marriage 1811 in Burrington). In my notes (many of which are deductions from limited known facts) I have assumed that THOMAS & ELIZABETH raised their family in nearby Churchill and are the couple who had a son THOMAS in 1820 in Churchill. If so then I have assumed that the THOMAS GALLOP in Churchill in the 1851 Census is the same person who married ELIZABETH BADMAN. However he states that he was born in Nempnett. I have not found his baptism in the Nempnett records.
I have another THOMAS GALLOP in my tree born about the same time and causing a problem. He was born Yatton in 1784 and married someone named ELIZABETH (baptism records in Yatton from 1808 list their children) but who ELIZABETH is I do not know nor do I know where they married.
A lot of my work is using the limited information of parish records and census records so I may well have errors. However I am fairly sure that my Yatton line goes back to Blagdon circa 1780.
Hope this helps.

Gallop family published by - 8 years 8 months 2 days ago. | | Hello
My Grandmother Louisa was married to Alfred Frederick Gallop who came from Bristol.
His father was Alfred Gallop (1846-1898) who was married to Sarah Mitchell. His father was William Gallop (1819 -1882) who was married to Charlotte Hill. Williams father was Thomas who was married to Elizabeth Badman. His father was Richard Gallop who was married to Rachel Hughes in 1774 at Wrington.
I just wondered if any of this information ties in with your Gallops
With best wishes

Francis PARKER published by daveerasmus - 8 years 8 months 4 days ago. | | Thank you for reminding me about this 1841 Census record. I first saw it several years ago when I first started researching my family tree seriously. I dismissed it at the time because I couldn't find any connection between this PARKER family and "my" Francis. But it deserves to be re-visited and that's what I shall do. I will let you know the outcome.
