STAR family of Draycott
published by Pat Hase - 8 years 10 months 4 days ago.

You didn't mention any dates for this family but I see from theShepton Mallet Journal of Friday 28 October 1864 that this marriage took place;

MARRIAGES

Oct 25, at St. Peter’s Church, Draycott, by the Rev. W. B. Caparn, assisted the Rev. G. G. Beadon, rector, of Axbridge, Thomas, youngest son of the late Mr. T. Bull, of Axbridge, to Mary, only daughter of the late Mr. W. Star, of Elmhay, Draycott aforesaid

Have you sent a message to the person who posted their Surname Interests to include STAR(R)?  if you click on the name "bevercombe" on this page and then the button "Contact" you can send an email directly to them.

George EDWARDS and Alfred Henry BISDEE Hutton
published by Pat Hase - 8 years 10 months 10 days ago.

As A H BISDEE witnessed the marriage of George EDWARDS in 1860 (image on FindmyPast) I would agree with your suggestion in an earlier comment that George was probably employed by Alfred H BISDEE.  Ancestry does include this list Tasmania, Australia, Immigrant Applications and Bounty Tickets, 1854-1887 and on 4 dates A H BISDEE is applying to employ an Immigrant as a servant.  Unfortunately the names of the immigrant are not included.  Would there be any estate papers in the Tasmanian Records for the BISDEE family which might help you?

GEORGE EDWARDS

Hi Pat, yes I have tried unsuccessfully all of the above that you have suggested to find out his arrival date.  The only bit of information I do have is from the transcription of his death registration in New South Wales in 1921 which states "Time in Australian colonies:  21 years in New South Wales (where he died) and 50 years in Tasmania."  His marriage certificate has detail that he was 23 when he married in December 1860 in Tasmania and I also have detail of his christening in Somerset in June 1837, so I gather he was in his teens when he arrived here.

EDWARDS Family from Hutton

I remember that we have discussed this family before - see here for previous correspondence - but not this particular question.

Presumably you have looked through this section on Ancestry under "Tasmania, Australia, Passenger Arrivals, 1829-1957"  It does mean that you have to look at every entry within your date range that is a possibility.

The Tasmanian Government has a useful site covering various aspects of Family History including Passenger lists which may be of help to you.  There is also a Tasmanian Name Index which is also very useful - If you are doubtful about how to use it there is a video on the title page explaining it all!

Not knowing exactly where you have looked it is difficult to advise - Have you tried the Arrivals which are sometimes listed in the Tasmanian Newspapers?  I find that Trove is a fantastic site to use for information in Australian Newspapers.   Did his death have an obit which might give dates of arrival.

CLARK Family emigrating to Canada 1956
published by Pat Hase - 8 years 10 months 11 days ago.

As it has been established that this family travelled to Canada in 1956 we now know that they were descended from Alfred CLARK and Gladys SPILLER who were married in 1914 and according to FreeBMD had at least 10 or 11 children including Dennis Stanley CLARK who was born in 1925.

If anyone does know of any living relations I am sure that Debbie Clark would be delighted to hear from you.
