PS. I wasn't looking but responding to a BREAN(E) Wrington post

Rescue Home & P.A.C. Hospital

I have recently been told by member David Tyler, who has been researching Evacuees in Weston - A folder of his findings can be seen in Weston Library - that the Allandale Convalescent Home at 65/66, Beach Road was designated for the treatment of evacuees and many women gave birth there.

There is an account in the first births in the Weston Mercury of October 1939 which also contains:

"The Allandale Maternity Home  was open for inspection last week when members of the Maternity and Child Welfare Committee viewed the premises  which have been placed at the disposal of evacuee mothers"

Is it possible that she could have been evacuated to Weston?

Valerie, It makes it easier for others to follow if you put the SURNAME in Upper Case - I thought initially that you were looking for someone called Wrington living in Brean!   By the way you're welcome as a new member but as a full member you would get even more help!

Burial Records

This probably does not help in your search but when my mother died at Yatton I found that the vicar could not help as regards the location of her parents grave. However the local undertakers had records and a plan of the whole churchyard and could tell me where her parents and her grandparents were buried. Perhaps local undertakers at Bleadon may be able to help.
