Richard Hodges - London House

I share with Jenny the same interest in Richard Hodges and my comment relates particularly to Richard's wife, born Mary Crandon (Crandon has been a Christian name in my family ever since). Mary died on 7 April
1827.

It would be most helpful if anybody could provide any details of Mary and her family. I note from records on websites that Crandon was a frequently occurring name in the birth and death records in the Burnham/Berrow area but I have not been able to make any specific connection.

Louisa FELL

It is always difficult to research if you have conflicting information - or a lack of it!  I'm assuming that the marriage certificate you have refers to the marriage registered in the September quarter of 1908 between William FELL and Luisa[sic] TERRY - (see FreeBMD)   Who witnessed the marriage - are there any clues there?  Did it give a father's name?

Louisa used a different surname for the registration of both her children and another for her marriage, and not yet found her birth.

Frederick DERRICK and James PIPER
published by Pat Hase - 9 years 5 months 10 days ago.

Have you found any military records for Frederick DERRICK?  Do you know the date of his birth or where he was born?   I notice that there is a Medal Card of a Frederick G DERRICK who was in the Somerset Light Infantry as a Private  No. 9673, then the Hampshire Regiment No 09605 and finally the Oxford & Bucks Light Infantry No 87143.  Is this the man you are looking for?   The various regiments may have some details which might help.

There is a birth registered in Bristol in 1915 of a James Robert PIPER but can you explain how his adopted perents had the same surname - were they related?  When was he adopted?

Have you any idea about when Frank PIPER was killed or where he died?  There could well be an article in a newspaper but you do need a litle more information.  The British Newspaper Archives is an excellent resource.  There would also have been an Inquest which would have been reported.

You could also try looking for the marriage on FreeBMD of a Frank PIPER with a Florence.
