Rawlings -

Not long ago there was a very large family of 'Rawlings' at North Weston and Portishead.  This may  be of interest to you.

Rawlings in Clevedon
published by - 9 years 6 months 1 day ago.

Hello, Brian,

I may be related to you. My name is Peter Rawlings, from Cleveland, Ohio, USA. I have just recently become a full member of this site, so that I could get access to the parish transcripts. I have traced my ancestors back to Clevedon, Somerset. My Great-great grandfather, William A, b. 1864 (aka Alfred W Rawlings, on earlier censuses), emigrated to Cleveland, Ohio, USA, following his brother John Rawlings b. 1861 - sometime ca. 1885 (though I can find no travel records for either of them).

William and John's father is George Rawlings (ca. 1831 - 1902), and I believe his father is John Rawlings (ca 1801 - 1874).

Do you have any further information that you can provide? Any and all assistance is greatly appreciated.

best regards,

Peter Rawlings

Elizabeth Susan (Bessie) PRICE
published by Pat Hase - 9 years 6 months 7 days ago.

I sympathise with your problem researching DAVIES and PRICE in the Swansea area!

Both Elizabeth Susan PRICE and her husband Frederick Joseph (whose death in 1943 was registered in the Frome District) are buried in Weston Cemetery Plot J' 209.  They both appear in the index to the 1939 Register as living in Weston-super-Mare.

When Elizabeth died in 1965, her probate named William PRICE, schoolmaster and Alfred Leslie PRICE, civil servant as executors.

Alfred Leslie PRICE who was born in 1913 died in 1976 – his address given as 8 Langport Road

According to the 1911 census – Frederick & Bessie PRICE  had 3 other children – William in 1906, Reginald James in 1908 and Laura Mary in 1910 all born in South Wales in the Cardiff area.

In 1938 a Laura M PRICE married an Albert A BROWN in the Weston-super-Mare Registration District.

I do hope that someone will help you with your search for relatives but please do not publish details of living people on the web site - contact Ken Stacey directly with any information.

Bertie & Minnie Elizabeth BOND
published by Pat Hase - 9 years 6 months 10 days ago.

Someone must have contacted me before about the BOND family as I have a note about them. Bertie & Minnie were both buried in Weston Cemetery in Grave J 274 but there is no memorial on it. My notes mention an Edgar Bertie BOND, one of their sons, who died in 1993, so it is likely that a relation of his was researching the family. If you can get to Weston Library one Saturday afternoon between 2.00 and 3.30pm there is a Help Session where we could see if we could find more of your family.

Bertie's BOND's father was a William BOND who married a Louisa DAY.

James MILLARD and Jane PARFREY
published by Pat Hase - 9 years 6 months 12 days ago.

Having posted the above I've just realised that 4 years ago I posted an almost identical request which resulted in no comments at all - so I'm not holding my breath!!

However there are some corrections to my original posting - further research (if correct) has unearthed the information that when John SELWOOD married Ann PARFREY in 1786 at St John's Bedminster he was marrying the daughter of Grace (his first wife) by her first marriage to William PARFERY  - are you all still with me?!

  • 15 Feb 1765        Betty d/o William & Betty PARFERY christened at Weare
  • 16 Dec 1765        Betty PERFARY wife of William of Wear[sic] buried at Dunkerton (FreeREG)
  • 11 Sept 1766       William PARFERY, widower, marries Grace PRICE or PRINCE at Weare
  • 13 Aug 1780        William PARFERY buried at Compton Bishop
  • 3 Oct 1781           John SELWOOD married Grace PARFERY (widow of William?) at Compton Bishop

Help!!
