CommentsWATTS Family & Emmanuel Church, Weston published by Pat Hase - 11 years 11 months 19 days ago. | | Emmanuel Church wasn't built until 1847 and we have Baptisms from that date online under Research Aids & Transcripts. Before that date the only church in Weston was St John the Baptist, the parish church - and Mary Anne was christened there 15th Dec 1836 (transcribed as WAITS - we will check the original). And there are two burials at St John's who just might be other children:
9th July 1842 Emmanuel WATTS aged 14 weeks
28th Feb 1845 Emma WATTS aged 7 months

HARVEY/HURLEY/KNIGHT published by Pat Hase - 11 years 11 months 28 days ago. | | This is a complex family!
In no particular order - Barrow HARVEY aka KNIGHT can be found on the 1841 census as a patient at the Brailbrook Asylum, near Bath. He died there in 1846 and was buried on the 23rd June 1846 at St John Batheaston. He had married (as you know) Harriet GAMLIN on the 20 Sept 1820 at St James Church Bristol. I believe they had 4 children before he was admitted to an Asylum.
Charles HURLEY's wife (Harriet BENNETT) died in 1839 and I believe that his family on the 1851 census which includes 4 children born after his wife's death are probably the children of Harriet HARVEY born after her husband was admitted to the Asylum. Whether Charles HURLEY was the father of any or all of these remains to be discovered.
Charles HURLEY and Harriet BENNETT had at least 5 children, the first two christened at Hutton while they were living at Bleadon and the last 3 christened at Banwell - see our parish transcriptions for details - They include a Jonas HURLEY and I think that Charles could possibly be the son of a Jonas HURLEY who married an Elizabeth STOCK in Bleadon on the 6th Aug 1798. There is a baptism of a Jonas HURLEY in Bleadon in 1771 s/o John & Ann. - BUT this is speculative because a christening of Charles has not been found in Bleadon, Churchill, Banwell or Hutton. Can anyone else find him probably in about 1799?

HINSLEY/HAYDEN Family - Entertainers published by Pat Hase - 11 years 11 months 30 days ago. | | We were at the Library this afternoon but I'm afraid I have nothing new to report. The parish registers which are available on fiche generally stop at about 1900 so we couldn't find baptisms for the births in 1912 & 1913. Two parishes in Weston - Emmanuel & St Paul do have some baptisms for that period available but one of our members checked those without success. The records for the remaining churches - St John's and Christ Church are at the Somerset Heritage Centre in Taunton. I had hoped to find a christening for Thomas or Vernon which might have listed an address. I'm afraid there wasn't time for anyone to search the newspapers for an entry about the family nor the Street Directories for 1912 and 1913 but another member did search his collection of photographs of Weston Entertainers but again drew a blank.
