It is very perplexing to discover such a close relative was alive through a large part of ones life and having pieced together some of the detail, I'm sad not to have been part of hers myself.  As I reached the first anniversary of my Dad's death a few days ago, this has been very poignant.  He was an avid historian and true family man, and would have found this whole discovery both fascinating and yet deeply unsettling- especially as he was born in 1943, seven years after the last family sighting of Nettie.  He undoubtedly dealt with the scars that her disappearance left on my grandmother too and in some ways its a blessing that he didn't know about my discoveries which have rewritten our family history so much.  To be honest, it is as much in his memory that I'm putting in the effort here - Janet is a faceless figure (we have no photos), but a very significant one.  Her first marriage to Edward Nugent produced my grandma, and I also witnessed the scars on a proud family oriented woman who I knew very well there.  Being able to tell Janet's story, start to finish, warts and all, has become very important to me as I feel it stands as a tribute to the two generations that separate us.  I am in touch with Dr Bowering's surgery and have left one or two questions for him although he doesn't immediately recall her.

At that time Bournemoth was in the Registration District of Christchurch so the births of Murielle & Algy although taking place in Bournemouth would appear in the GRO Index as being registered in Christchurch.  Similarly Violet was born in Weston-super-Mare but her birth appears as being registered in the Registration District of Axbridge.

What is the reference to Charlton Mackrell?

A mistake has been made as it was Algy born 1906 not Reginald (my uncle).See the wedding report as he was best man.  I am unaware of the Christchurch connection as I believed that Murielle was born at "Skerryvore" a house not far from Branksome Manor, see the 1901 census.

I do not know when the Weston connection was ended but I have a puzzle as Charlton Makrell figures some where.  Any clues?

Pat, have you found any of your Puddy family connected with those from Mark or Stoughton?

Thank you so much for this information.  I now have an accurate DOB and his death date.  I didn't know about delivering post to Cheddar.  I had assumed that the Coach and Horses was an old coaching inn, but on reflection, Weston would have been too small to warrant one in coaching days.

His wife, Harriett, I believe, remained in Weston and was living at Manilla Crescent in 1891, the year of her death.

I would be very interested to have a copy of John Davis' obituary.
