CommentsGUIVIER published by Pat Hase - 13 years 30 days ago. | | As Graham has told you, both are buried in Weston Cemetery, in the same grave but there is no memorial on that grave to give more information. Death Certificates give date, place and cause of death and the name of the person who gave the information. If you do want to get a copy of their death certificates these can be obtained online from the GRO (General Register Office) quoting the following Index References which have been obtained by using FreeBMD. The certificates will cost £9.25 each. Joseph P GUIVIER December Quarter 1915 Registration District - Axbridge Volume 5c Page 596
Alice M GUIVIER December Quarter 1919 Registration District - Axbridge Volume 5c Page 543 Copies are also available from the local Register Office just by quoting name and date but the fee structure is different. More information can be obtained by contacting the Weston Register Office or by visiting the web site of the North Somerset Registration Service

Thank you very much for your published by - 13 years 1 months 1 day ago. | | Thank you very much for your help and suggestions, i have found a mention in the Bristol Mercury on the The British Newspaper Archive. The name of my ancestor is Charles Bennett, who died 17th February 1863. I was interested by the cause of Death on the death certificate just states 'Found Drowned', and the coroner was for North Somerset, Cheddar. Thank you so much. Kirsty

CUFF Family tree published by Pat Hase - 13 years 1 months 12 days ago. | | Can you give a few more details with first names and dates for your family ? Although this isn’t about the CUFF family from Banwell perhaps someone might know more about Betsy and Charlotte CUFF who at the ages of 10 and 9 were residents in Axbridge Workhouse at the time the 1841 census was taken. Unfortunately the admission and discharge books for that period have not survived. However, on the 1851 census, a Charlotte CUFF, born in Cross in about 1832 is lodging in Weston-super-Mare and Betsy CUFF, also born in Cross in 1831 is a servant in Burnham on Sea. I have found the christening of a Charlotte and a Betsy CUFF at Weare on the 2nd Feb 1833 and their parents were John & Betsy CUFF née HAM who had been married at Chapel Allerton in 1822. So, why were the girls in the workhouse? Is this their parents? On the 1841 census a John CUFF aged 60, Betsy CUFF, aged 48 with what appears to be sons, John, aged 20 and William aged 13 are living in Weare. There is an 83 year old Richard HAM at the same address. Perhaps the girls were ill and being treated in the Workhouse Infirmary? Their parents - Betsy CUFF, aged 49 was buried at Weare 19th Aug 1843, and John CUFF, aged 66 was buried at Weare 14th Aug 1846.
John SUMMERS Weston-super-Mare published by Pat Hase - 13 years 1 months 13 days ago. | | There is quite a bit on this site which can help you sort out your family. John SUMMERS married Mary COLLINGS 26th March 1881 at Emmanuel Church, Weston-super-Mare (not in 1862 you suggested) and the full details can be seen under Research Aids & Transcripts. Their 5 children were all christened at Emmanuel - see the transcriptions for more details. Sadly, he died exactly 10 years after his marriage on 26th March 1891 in Weston and is buried in Weston Cemetery. The memorial on his grave also includes 2 of his sons, Thomas & John, and his sister Agnes Mabel SUMMERS who died in Weston-super-Mare in 1918 (who from censuses I see was born in Ireland). His widow remarried in 1887 and is not buried in Weston. You mentioned he was described as a County Court Clerk when he died. When he married he gave his occupation as Solicitor's Clerk which ties in nicely.
