Free Help Sessions published by Pat Hase on Fri, 13/03/2020 - 12:54
| We regret that the Free Help Sessions at Weston Library on Saturdays will be cancelled until further notice. The one-to-one nature of these sessions coupled with the average age of the volunteers and people attending make this advisable.

Dorset FHS Family Day - 21 March published by Pat Hase on Wed, 11/03/2020 - 12:14
| From the Dorset FHS:
"The Dorset Family History Society has reluctantly made the decision to cancel the Family History Day on Saturday 21st March 2020. This is out of consideration for the health and well being of our volunteers, exhibitors, speakers and potential visitors because of the Coronavirus.
The Family History Day was going to be held at Parkstone Grammar School, Sopers Lane, Poole and we also didn’t want to be responsible for potentially bringing the virus onto the school premises.
Please regularly check the society’s website at https://www.dorsetfhs.org.uk/events-act…/family-history-day/ for future events which will be organised as soon as we feel it is safe to do so."

1939 Register of Axbridge Public Assistance Institution published by Pat Hase on Tue, 10/03/2020 - 23:19
| I have uploaded a transcription of the 1939 Register of the Axbridge Public Assistance Institution (formerly the Axbridge Workhouse) under the general heading of the Axbridge Poor Law Union. Scroll down to the bottom of the page.
It contains Staff, Inmates (including patients of the Infirmary) and Vagrants. There are several redacted entries - possibly children born there. I have added a Notes column which adds deaths, burials or marriages of some of those listed.
If you are know anything about any of the entries please let me know.
